Desde sus comienzos en 1984, Argies se destacó por la profundidad de su poesía libertaria, la fuerza de su música, y la inteligencia y coherencia de su actitud política. Cultores ejemplares del “Hazlo tú mismo”, construyeron una fructífera carrera desde la más absoluta independencia. Su nombre es el apócope despectivo de la palabra “argentinos” en inglés, término popularizado por los diarios ingleses amarillistas durante la infame guerra de Malvinas. Lejos de ser nacionalistas, el nombre los vincula con las minorías despreciadas y marginadas del mundo. Se auto definen como “internacionalistas”.

A mediados de los 90 dejaron su Rosario natal y se radicaron en Buenos Aires, donde recorrieron todo el circuito under a un promedio de 35 shows por año, convirtiéndose en una de las bandas que más ha tocado por aquel entonces. Desde 2001 y hasta la fecha, Argies ha estado en constantes giras por Sudamérica, Asia y Europa, tocando en más de 39 países con 791 shows en Europa y más de de 30 en Asia, incluidos 14 shows en China. Su música ya fue editada en muchos de los países visitados. La banda funciona como una cooperativa de músicos, quienes forman parte del proyecto por tiempo indeterminado, entrando y saliendo de la banda con la misma libertad con la que se trabaja en ella, aprendiendo y enseñando a través de sus diferencias. A lo largo de los años, este particular método ha hecho de Argies un verdadero movimiento cultural independiente.

Since their formation in 1984, Argies have stood out due to their libertarian poetry, the power of their music and the understanding and coherence of their political attitude. Even though their roots can be found in the British Punk from the seventies, nowadays their music witnesses influences from ska, reggae, dub and good part of rock’n’roll elements and Latin rhythms. Practicing a philosophy of “do it yourself” they have made a successful career while maintaining independence. The name “Argies” derives from the English pejorative term for “Argentinean” which was most popularly used by the British yellow press during the Falkland War in 1982. Far from being nationalists, their name connects the band, the members of which define themselves as internationalists, with debased minorities and marginalized people worldwide.

By the mid nineties, Argies left their hometown Rosario and moved to Buenos Aires. Since then, playing more than 35 shows annually, they came to be known as one of the most frequently performing acts in town. Starting in 1999, the band has regularly played extended tours in South America and Europe. Until today, Argies have performed in 39 countries and played 791 shows in Europe and 36 shows in Asia (included 14 shows in China). The Band functions like a collective of committed musicians all of which form part of the project for undetermined periods, entering and leaving Argies with the same liberty that also characterizes the work in the band and the way in which its members study and teach in joint efforts across their differences. Over the years, the band’s particular method of making music has made Argies a truly independent cultural movement.
