Born Kendra Scanlon, Tuff like Iron is a fashion designer turned musician from New York. As anundeniable firebrand, she is inspired by her Trinidadian heritage and a kaleidoscopic life lived between Kingston and Brooklyn.
At the top of 2014 she released her Jah Ova Evil produced debut ‘1986 – EP’ and has since arrested the attention of roots reggae masses with the singles ‘I’m Talking To You’, ‘Equal Rights’,‘Keep Your Head Up’and ‘Mr. Babywrong’ feat Zionites.
In February 2015, her eponymous ‘Tuff Like Iron’ single appeared on the Black Roots Riddim produced by Fyakin of Nyle Banks Music. The song is the artist’s own affirmation of her purpose in the musical jungle. It skillfully doubles as an anthem for all determined to rise above adversity and seek a higher consciousness.
Her soon to be released ‘Be Still and Know’ double disc album was produced by Conscious Riddims Records out of Hawaii. This highly anticipated album is mastered by Laurent ‘Tippy’ Alfred of I Grade Records. It will also feature roots heavyweights like Midnite, Ras Batch, Prezident Brown, PerfectGiddimani among others.

Boss Sound Manifesto, “In It For The Good Times” EP. Ska / reggae from Belfast city.
EP recorded at Attic Studios.
Also available on 7″ inch vinyl.
Released 20 December 2014.
Bio
BOSS SOUND MANIFESTO is the result of many years of trying to put together an original sounding reggae/ska band in Belfast. Belfast is not renowned for having much in the way of a Jamaican community and thus finding personnel for the band was a long and arduous task, it took 2 years in total to find said personnel but once together the band ‘clicked’ and not only do they work well together they really, really enjoy the fun in the music.
The band believe that reggae and ska music are truly an international genre and have therefore tried to put their own Belfast stamp on the music, singing with a Jamaican accent never seemed right to the band, nor as non-Rastafari did the band ever feel the need to emulate something that was not of themselves. As early reggae and ska was non religious, the rhythm and infectious feel of the music was an immediate attraction for them all.
The band takes much of their influences from the boss sounds of early reggae, ska and of course the ska revival in the form of two-tone, soul and Northern Soul.
The band have been gathering pace in recent years and gaining a reputation as a must see live band. Festival promoters at home have been keen to take advantage of the bands’ live energy and drive which has seen them support the ‘Father of Reggae’ Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, The Selecter and Bad Manners.

Bio
Masons Arms are at home in the Bamberg-based Rocking Records. Together in the autumn of 2012, the “Gepackt” album was published. Thanks to their dedicated label, the band regularly toured all over Germany – sharing the stage with Babylove & the van Dangos, the Skatalites, Jaya the Cat, the Slackers, Doreen Shaffer, the Moon Invaders, Dr. Woggle & the Radio, the Busters, Leo & the Lineup, El Bosso & die Skadiolas, Sebastian Sturm, The Beatdown, and many others.
Masons Arms was founded in 1995, in Rhenish Heinsberg. As one of the first German-speaking Skapunk Bands with their roots in the Skatepunk of the 90s, they quickly grew from being a local band to regional size, playing numerous concerts in both Germany and the Netherlands. After self-released Demos and EPs, as well as samplers for Vitaminepillen and Wolverine Records, the album, “Ex-girlfriends & broken hearts” was released in 2004 on the Cologne-based punk and hardcore label Unpopular Disclose Records.
After this, like many other bands of the same seniority, came a rest period with a lower stage presence where the members of the band concentrated on education/training, jobs, family, and children. But this time was used productively: new songs were written, new band members recorded, the musical horizon expanded with other band projects. With increasing age and musical maturity came a gradual instant change of style accompanied by just songwriter Hanno, recollecting himself increasingly on the roots of his own kind of music: Traditional Ska, early Reggae and Soul music of the late 60s and early 70s.
With Dr. Ring Ding, the Masons Arms won a producer who helped them to fine-tune their own musical roots in this style, but to remain faithful. With his support, they started the production of “Gepackt”. Andre Meyer of Rootdown Records helped them finally to their current sound.
