Foo Fighters frontman teams with comedian Dana Gould for FX project.

Dave GrohlFoo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has signed on to executive produce a new half-hour comedy for FX starring comedian Dana Gould. The show, to be written by Gould, will be about a rock band on the verge of stardom which must go into therapy in order to keep themselves from breaking up. Unfortunately for the band, they end up with a misanthropic couples therapist on the brink of divorce.

Gould approached Grohl to get involved with the project, largely based on the rocker’s reputation as a very funny dude. It’s unclear whether Grohl will appear in the as-yet untitled show, or provide music for its soundtrack.

This isn’t the comedian’s first time working on a sitcom. He previously starred in Nolan Knows Best, a 2010 pilot developed for ABC. Gould is also writing a movie, Moon People, for Sony, and he hosts a popular podcast called The Dana Gould Hour.

Wisdom In Chains : “Chasing the Dragon”

On January 28, 2012, in English lang, HC, Oi, Punk, USA, by admin

Wisdom In Chains, “Chasing the Dragon”, the second video from the album “Everything You Know” on I Scream Records.

This video is produced & directed by Universal Warning Records, filmed by Tim Martinkovitch and edited By Mike Varga. All of the footage was shot between January 2011 & June 2011 at six different venues, across three states and including PA venues: The MCL, The Polish Club, The Note, and Club Reverb.

Wisdom In Chains started a few years ago with members from America and Europe. Maarten, a guitar player from Holland in a band called Daredevil made the call to Richie and Mad Joe who where in Krutch at the time. Maarten had the idea to start an old school band, with heavy punk and oi influences. The three met while Krutch was on tour in Europe. The plans where made and Maarten came to the USA to record. The group released a self entitled CD on Gangstyle Records. Only one show was ever performed by the group due to the extreme distance between the members.

Eventually Maarten, who was a key writer in the band, would convince Richie and Joe to find local members and keep this band going. So they recruited local guitarist Tony Meltdown from a band called The Ninth Plague. Shannon Sparky was brought in on drums, he was also played with Richie and Mad Joe in Out To Win (aka Mushmouth). With Big Show Greg on bass, the new line-up was complete and they started touring, playing street rock with heavy old school HC and OI influences. The band members have played and toured with other bands like Krutch, FCK, The Ninth Plague, Boxcutter (another side project of Mad Joe Black), Out To Win, Feeble and others.

Animalhaus : “Now We Know”

Animalhaus, “Now We Know”, featuring Mad Joe from Wisdom In Chains.
Taken from the forthcoming album “Boys From Barley Hill”, available January 2012 on One Day Savior Records.

Animal Haus was formed in the spring of 2010, but the idea was born years ago when John Barlow and Ziggy were on the road with their old band, Barricade. Even though they enjoyed every minute on the road with their old project they knew they wanted to do something else, something that brought their love of hardcore back to its roots and, more importantly, back to being fun. With a line-up secure, the Haus recorded its demo in May, 2010, and it quickly made its rounds through the local scene and continues to spread far and fast. With the strength of the demo behind them, Animal Haus wasted no time in writing and recording a full length record.

Scream : “Elevate”

On January 21, 2012, in English lang, Hardcore Punk, HC, USA, by admin

Scream “Elevate”, from the album “Complete Control Sessions.”
The video was directed by Diona Mavis.

Scream was formed in Northern Virginia in 1981 by singer Peter Stahl, his brother Franz Stahl on guitar, bassist Skeeter Thompson and drummer Kent Stax. They are considered one of the benchmark bands in the history of the Washington, D.C. hardcore music movement. Along with bands such as Minor Threat and Government Issue, Scream ultimately merged the attributes of the movement, which were blinding speed, heavy political and social connotations in the lyrics, unpretentiousness of attitude, and shunning of commercialism. Their music is faithful to the roots of rock, but spun itself into other genres by employing sounds that predate the raunchiness of grunge, while saluting reggae and speed metal.

Scream hated the classification of bands into certain types and considered what they played as simply ‘music.’ Recording their music in the basement of the now legendary Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia, Scream became the first band on the Dischord label to release a whole album, “Still Screaming”.

For their second album Scream added another guitarist to their line-up, Robert Lee “Harley” Davidson, which eventually led to a powerful dual-lead guitar style, with complex guitar tracking, a more powerful live sound and an over-all crunchier sound for their third album. They also added a keyboard player, Bobby Madden, who was a colleague of Davidson’s from the same metal scene.

After the third album “Banging the Drum”, Kent Stax left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by local drummer Dave Grohl, who then played on Scream’s 4th album “No More Censorship”. The band then toured Europe and recorded their fifth and final studio album “Fumble”, before quitting in late 1990. Pete and Franz started rock band Wool, while Grohl joined grunge band Nirvana. In 1997, Franz Stahl joined Dave Grohl’s newly formed group, the commercially successful Foo Fighters, for a two year stint. During this time, Stahl worked as a road manager for both Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age, while continuing to record albums with several bands, including the Earthlings and Goatsnake.

The original line-up of the band played a reunion show on December 20, 2009 at the Black Cat nightclub in Washington, D.C.[2] and have been playing several shows in 2010. On February 7, 2011, the band supported Foo Fighters on a special show at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, when the Foo Fighters showcased their new album “Wasting Light” for the first time from beginning to end.
